Mitigating climate change by extermination of all household cats

We discuss human population control, but maybe it’s enough to drastically limit population of pet cats.

Do you like cats? Maybe you own one or a few? They’re so cute, right?

Well, they are. But there’s so much more to them. As scientists are breaking their brains trying to find easy to implement solutions to climate change, and oil companies still pay billions for lobbying that prevents necessary change in that sector, I want to propose another solution that would help fight climate change – annihilation of all the household cats.

Is it drastic? Yes, but hear me out.

Cats are ruining ecosystems by hunting.

Some numbers from Australia — “Roaming pet cats kill 390 million animals per year in Australia, including reptiles, birds and mammals. That’s an average of 186 animals, mostly native species, per roaming domestic cat each year.” (source)

Globally — “Pet cats are still responsible for their share of kills, with the paper estimating owned cats hauling down 1 billion birds and 1.5 billion mammals annually.” (source)

These are just a few statistics, but they’re shocking. 2,5 billions of beings being killed by pet cats. 2,5 BILLIONS…
