Defense of anti-immigration riots that no one has asked for

Condemning rioters is adding fuel to the fire

I was an immigrant for a few years.
My husband is an immigrant.
My friends are POCs and immigrants.

and yet, I do understand why white, ‘working class’ people are angry and why they riot.

And let me surprise you — it’s not because they’re terrible, racist people that hate all POCs.

Their grandfathers built the countries you live in. They fought wars to keep them safe. Their taxes made the countries prosper (and yes, colonialism in some cases, but a regular person doesn’t truly consider this). And then an immigrant comes and gets the same or better privileges than them.

But that’s ok. They were getting angry but swallowed it.

Then this immigrant takes jobs, sometimes better paid, because the working-class people don’t often have a higher education.

But that’s ok. They swallowed it.

But then — the safety of their women and children is at stake. 3 children are dead and 8 were wounded. And the sad statistics are, that the more immigration, the more crime.

It had to blow up at some point.

And yes, you have every right to fear coming out, but also, are you going to do anything about the death of these children? Do you even care?

‘Working-class’ white communities are paying a high price for their countries choosing to accommodate immigrants.

And you look down to them, because they’re ‘racist’.

They’re being left behind…

If you truly care about equality, as an immigrant, you could think of ways that you can start giving back to the community. Start a program for the working-class kids. Teach them something. Show them by example that many immigrants are good people.

Current discrimination isn’t only against POCs. It’s against poor people in general. So don’t look down on them and help them instead.

end of the rant
